Starting With Attractions...

Alton Towers offers some of the best theme park experiences with many seasonal events and some of the best UK rollercoasters. There is variety of attractions for children, most noteworthy, CBeebies Land with rides based on their beloved kids TV shows. On site there there is also access to some beautiful gardens that are well maintained perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a pleasant break between rides.

Uttoxetter Racecourse hosts horse racing and other specialist events. You can find the Acoustic Festival of Great Britain, music concerts and many seasonal events (mostly Christmas) here.

Many historical steam train railways can be found nearby including the quaint Foxfield light Railway. Close by you can also find Churnet Valley Railway, a preserved standard gauge heritage railway. Both locations are open on Sundays and various days in the children’s holidays. They host special services on Mother's Day, Christmas, and most children’s holidays/similar days. The main appeal is the opportunity to recapture the scenic and relaxing experience of steam engine journeys.

If you’re interested in museums The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery has one of the finest ceramic collections and the Staffordshire Hoard collection of Anglo Saxon gold artefacts. It also has a recently renovated area proudly displaying the city's spitfire RW388 donated by the RAF in 1972 in honour of the designer Reginald Joseph Mitchell who was born and educated in north Staffordshire.

For local walks and beautiful architecture, we recommend Trentham Gardens an award winning Garden Estate with with a stunning mile-long lake homing a wide array of wildlife. Their stunning Italian Gardens were designed within the historic framework of Sir Charles Barry from the 19th Century. The shopping village also offers a variety of different stores to visit including independent and nationally renowned high street leading names. Events are hosted in both the garden and shopping village, including but not excluding: markets, music events, firework shows, and themed events (e.g. previously had 80s themed music event and a variety of Christmas market themed events).

Trentham Monkey Gardens is a unique zoo-like experience where guests can visit the free-ranging monkey enclosure along a ¾ mile pathway with the Barbary Macaque monkey. Currently on the threatened scale of endangerment, and you can learn about the conservation through a variety of guides and talk sessions as you walk through the large forest enclosure. They encourage visitors to take a slow pace and enjoy the opportunity to take photos of the monkeys.

For more animal related locations, Peak Wildlife Centre care for many different animals throughout their zoo, as well as a core interest in conservation with animals like red squirrels and their Visayan warty pigs. Some of their enclosures are even open for guests to walk through and see animals like penguins and lemurs without any barriers. Similarly, Kingsley Bird & Falconry Centre offer different shows throughout the day, as well as a variety of different bird species that would otherwise be unfamiliar with. Both locations are a fun to visit and can be ideal for almost anyone.

Food options in Cheadle
Food & Drink

Onto Food & Drink...

One of the closest food options to our holiday home is The Huntsman, a local country pub that serves a variety of lovely pizzas, grills, light-bites, desserts and more with comfortable outdoor seating options. Similarly, The Red Lion Inn is another close-by pub that opens later in the day and offers similar style of food like pies and Sunday lunch that can be taken to go. These pubs might also be an ideal location to schedule into your journey to Alton Towers as they’re not far and often on the journey to and from the theme park for visitors travelling via car who want a casual food option after their visit.

Looking to enjoy the local Staffordshire style oatcakes? Ye Olde Oatcake Shoppe is a local takeaway service located in the town centre providing a selection of different choices for fillings based on whatever are your preferences. For more takeaways, The Goldfish Bowl is a local chippy offering fish & chips, steaks, pies, battered sausages, chicken nuggets, and similar items. Offering great service, and some of the best chippy options in the area, their number is 01538752272 and they’re open from 11am - 8pm on every day excluding Sundays. For Chinese takeaways, we recommend the Pearl Dragon with a variety of rice and English dishes. They're open from 5pm - 11pm on every day besides Monday and their contact number is 01538754203.

If you’re looking for a local Weatherspoon, Cheadle High Street is where you’ll want to be. With a selection of different food throughout the day, and a comfortable stylish interior, it is reasonably priced as you would expect from a Weatherspoon location. Close by, The Mughal Indian Balti Restaurant provide many different tandoori, curry, Balti, and English dishes for both dine-in and take-out experiences. With friendly service and many authentic dishes, this is a great option to choose if you’re in the mood for Indian style food. The town centre is only a 15 minute walk away from our holiday home which means it the takeaways and restaurants are perfect for guests.

Shopping
Shopping In Cheadle

For Shopping & Supermarkets...

Cheadle has 3 supermarkets, the biggest being Morrisons, a medium sized ASDA, an Iceland and a small Co-op convenience store. Cheadle High Street is where most of the local stores are located including restaurants, takeaways, pharmacies, post office, supermarkets and retail stores.

To get to Cheadle, with The Rindle on your right side. Head to the end of the road and turn left (uphill) towards the town. The roads merge together to become High Street. Continuing on High Street takes you to the main shops, but turning right by the next stone monument takes you to the Pugin Church. Turning left at the church junction takes you past the carpark and rear entrance of Wetherspoon's pub, and the next left is the main town carpark (free after 3.30pm) accessing (to the left side) the High Street, and the block paved arcade/alleys (pizza) leading to the high Street, and (on the right) the shopping centre (Iceland, fruit and veg shop as well as a B&M).

If you don't turn into the carpark, but continue on the road, this leads to the roundabout. Morrisons is the second exit. Following the road straight on you can take the third exit that leads to a mini (painted) roundabout. The first junction is the road to Alton and ASDA carpark is immediately on the left. Overall there is a good amount of stores for any general goods and food options for if you are planning to cook at the holiday home in our lovely kitchen.

If you’re looking for a wider selection of stores, visiting the Intu Potteries centre and surrounding area is the best place. Hanley has most popular retailers in fashion, general goods, technology, art & crafts, and much more, but also it has a good selection of popular restaurants including a street of locally managed food & drink locations close to the museum. My personal favourites are North Kitchen and The Quarter. You can also find the main bus station in Stoke-On-Trent, with the most public transport options- this is also close to the train station.
